CAREER AND MENTORSHIP PROGRAM IN MAKUENI COUNTY
The school of environmental studies has been engaging other stakeholders in various community outreach programs in an effort to market its programmes and educate the community on various issues affecting our Environment in general. Some of these are Global warming, climate change, Desertification, soil erosion ect. Our students have participated in various activities and events in collaboration with other cooperate entities like NEMA, Safaricom, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forest Service, Coca Cola, county Governments and many others.
One such event was a three week Career and Mentorship Program in Makueni County where Students from the School of Environmental Studies Department Environmental Studies (community development) and Students from other schools participated. This event was spread in four sub county Schools Kalawa Girls, st Martins Kibwezi, Makuu Girls, Mbukoni Kaketi Secondary Schools and Makueni girls.

Students were taught on how to develop leadership skills and gain a personal sense of satisfaction from knowing that they've helped someone, expand their knowledge and skills, gain valuable advice from more experienced persons, and build their professional networks. They were also taught on how to encourage and support growth and improvement of others, Guidance/collaboration in research, teaching advice, building a professional network, how to become a leader, receive useful feedback on behavior, receiving guidance on promotion and tenure.
This career and mentorship program was jointly organized by Makueni Kenyatta University students Association (MACKUSA) and Makueni County Education Secretary who sponsored it.
